Ginger Gaskins | Berkeley County Government
For nearly 30 years, Ginger Gaskins has called herself a Berkeley County employee. Her career with the County began in 1993 with Berkeley County Sheriff's Office. Her role at the time was funded by a drug-enforcement grant. In May 2007, she graduated from Trident Technical College with an Associate’s Degree in Public Service (Paralegal) and accepted the position of Paralegal in the County Attorney’s Office in July 2007. Wanting to fulfill a dream and a promise to her daughter, Ginger returned to college and obtained her Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, graduating cum laude in 2010 from Charleston Southern University.
In October 2013, Ginger would implement the first Freedom of Information Act (“FOIA”) online portal for Berkeley County, allowing a more efficient and effective response to public records request. The County was the first in the state to offer such an online portal. In conjunction with her Paralegal role, Ginger became the County’s FOIA Administrator. On August 1, 2022, Ginger accepted a new position in the Finance Department as the Grants Administrator for the County: “I feel like my professional career has come full circle from being hired through a grant to now applying and administering grants on behalf of the County.”
A Berkeley County native, Ginger grew up in Huger and loves all the natural resources that the County offers. Most weekends during the summertime, she can be found on a boat or a beach. She currently lives in Pinopolis and has one rescue pet named “Cruze." She also has one daughter, Johnna, and son-in-law, Dennis, who live in Maine.
Her favorite quote, “Don’t quit until you win,” has been an inspirational life mantra for her. #OneBerkeley #BerkeleyCounty
