PSM recognizes school counselor, Dionne Singleton | Berkeley County School District
When it comes to loving on their school counselor, Philip Simmons Middle does not hold back.
Students and staff packed into the multipurpose room early Thursday morning to celebrate their counselor, Dionne Singleton, as part of National School Counselors Week. This is a week dedicated to recognizing the hard work and dedication that school counselors put into guiding students toward success.
The multipurpose room was a sea of purple Iron Horse t-shirts as students waited for Singleton to arrive. Seated in the crowd were Singleton’s family members – her husband, parents, sister and nephew. Students were armed with giant banners that read sweet messages like “Thank you” and “Mrs. Singleton is...the bomb.com!”
Principal Charla Groves was tasked with bringing Singleton to the multipurpose room. When she arrived, she was greeted with an eruption of cheers from the crowd as she passed through a “tunnel” of students placing flowers in her hands.
Followed by some cheers from the school’s step club, the school played a video montage of students and staff giving testimonials thanking Singleton for everything she does for the school.
