Congresswoman Nancy Mace announced that the Department of Veterans Affairs has chosen 1844 Ribaut Road in Port Royal as the site for a new Community-Based Outpatient Clinic in Beaufort County, South Carolina. The project, which secured $30,646,000 in funding through the House Committee on Veterans’ Affairs with Mace’s support, aims to serve nearly 17,000 veterans living in the county.

The location is near Parris Island and Marine Corps Air Station Beaufort. According to Congresswoman Mace, “We worked to authorize over $30 million for this clinic because our Lowcountry veterans deserve world-class care close to home. Today’s announcement means we’re one step closer to delivering on this promise. The facility will be located right where our veterans need it, near Parris Island and MCAS Beaufort, ensuring the men and women who served our country can access the care they’ve earned without unnecessary travel or delays.”

The funding will provide for a modern outpatient facility offering primary care, mental health services, counseling, and other critical VA programs. In addition to expanding healthcare options for veterans, construction and operation of the clinic are expected to create jobs in both construction and healthcare sectors.

The new clinic is scheduled to open in 2028 and represents an expansion of VA services within South Carolina’s 1st District.

Nancy Mace has represented South Carolina’s 1st Congressional District since 2021 after replacing Joe Cunningham. She previously served in the South Carolina House of Representatives from 2018 to 2020 and was born in Fort Bragg, North Carolina. She resides in Charleston and graduated from The Citadel with a Bachelor of Science degree.
