Fireworks safety

The City of Goose Creek issued the following announcement on December 30.

Safety stressed for New Years celebrations

Berkeley County & the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office issued a reminder on Dec. 30 about the countywide noise ordinance, which went into effect in November 2021. The primary purpose of the ordinance is to ensure public safety, along with the “welfare and prosperity of the residents of Berkeley County.”

The ordinance defines noise as “any sound that is either loud, boisterous, unpleasant, unreasonable or that causes a disturbance of the public peace.” Types of noises range from technology like radios and televisions to construction/demolition and fireworks/gunshots, among others.

Fireworks are allowed in Goose Creek City limits on New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day. We encourage everyone to be mindful of your neighbors, and to be safe. Click here for helpful guidelines from DHEC regarding firework safety.
