Town of Moncks Corner issued the following announcement on March 16.
Tonight, at Town Council, Senator Larry Grooms and Mayor Michael Lockliear presented Moncks Corner’s Town Attorney John Samuel West with the Order of the Palmetto, awarded to him by Governor Henry McMaster.
The Order of the Palmetto is the State of South Carolina’s highest civilian honor presented in recognition of a lifetime of extraordinary achievement, service, and contributions on a national or statewide scale. Mr. West has had enduring impact on the State of South Carolina with long service in municipal, utility, and legal sectors along with his service in innumerable regional and statewide commissions, committees, and professional organizations. Congratulations to John West on being recognized on his lifetime of achievements to the betterment of the State of South Carolina and The Lowcountry's Hometown.
